About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre and motivated graduate to join our rapidly growing Remote Sensing Consultancy team. The role offers the opportunity to work first hand with some of the most cutting-edge aerial image data captured on the planet with unique projects taking place around the world including Australia, the USA, Europe and the UK.
The primary role will be to assist in delivery of APEM’s sensing survey projects as well as provide support to the senior members of the team. The work will mainly focus on processing APEM’s own aerial survey data (photographs and LiDAR) captured around the world but may on occasion involve analysis of satellite data. You will be responsible for helping the team produce orthomosaics, topographic outputs (DSM & DTM), habitat maps, 3D models and much more. Although primarily office based, there may be a requirement to undertake fieldwork on certain projects so a clean driving license would be highly desirable.
Due to the nature of data processing workflows, there may be a requirement to work outside of core hours to deliver projects on time.
For the right candidate there may be opportunities for progression within the role itself as well as progression into other areas of APEM’s business.
Successful candidates will have a degree in Remote Sensing / GIS / Earth Observation (or related discipline), or equivalent experience in one of these fields. An interest in remote sensing and earth observation is essential and experience of extracting information from airborne and/or satellite datasets would be advantageous. You will be an active team player, self-motivated and able to work to tight timelines. Attention to detail is key along with the ability to work long periods unsupervised.
- Experience of GIS software and basic analyses including digitisation
- Experience of image interpretation techniques including image classification
- Experience of photogrammetric software (desirable)
- Experience working with LiDAR/point clouds (desirable)
- Excellent organisation skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Good communication skills and a fast learner
