About the role
The Principal Consultant will work within the Marine Wildlife Survey team within the Marine Division. One of the main roles of the team is to organise, undertake and analyse aerial surveys of birds. The Marine Survey Team manage, co-ordinate and report on digital aerial surveys for ornithology and marine mammals, from data collection to reporting. The team uses robust science to find solutions for both the private and public sectors.
The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Associate Director and other Principal Consultants within the Marine Division and wider APEM team, influencing and shaping current work streams, managing 20+ projects, overseeing senior and junior staff and expanding the current customer base across the Republic of Ireland, UK, Europe and worldwide.
As a Principal Consultant – Marine Wildlife you will be managing multiple large scale projects with multidisciplinary teams based in various locations, as well as
successfully developing, maintaining and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
You will also be working in business development as we seek to expand in the UK, Ireland, Europe and RoW, taking APEM into new markets/sectors for wildlife survey as and associated activities, with existing clients as well as securing and managing new work/opportunities, maintaining and extending relationships and developing knowledge on local policy (notably the National Marine Planning Framework, Maritime Area Consents)/operations/industry and stakeholders.
- Ability to working well under pressure and support the team in a focused, thoughtful and composed manner.
- Commercial awareness, preferably in a consultancy role.
- Leadership skills and ability for strategic thinking.
- Passionate about your core specialism and ability to engage with other like. minded specialists and non-specialist (regulators, clients, colleagues).
