About the role
This is an excellent opportunity to join our expanding, busy and highly-regarded Freshwater Sector to work with us to support our expansion into this exciting business area.
Project work will include Peat, Wetland and river restoration projects in the UK and Ireland. You will deliver these projects with internal and external teams to restore our semi-aquatic, riparian and peatland landscapes. As well as technical delivery, the role will involve managing inputs from APEM’s renowned aquatic scientists in supporting disciplines, financial management and liaising with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
You will have knowledge and practical experience of scoping and designing wetland / peatland investigations and surveys, designing wetland / peatland management plans and designing wetland / peatland restoration measures. Supporting this experience, you will have a demonstrable understanding of wetland hydrology and ecohydrology and ecology.
Ideally, you will also have strong project management skills, good communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with clients and stakeholders.
Experience of wetland / peatland management, monitoring and restoration techniques.
Experience in sampling design and in the planning and execution of wetland habitat survey and monitoring programmes
Demonstrable expert knowledge and experience concerning the structure and function of raised bog habitats and their associated flora.
Specialist knowledge of peatlands or wetlands.
The ability to analyse and interpret geological and hydrogeological data
Demonstrable experience of conducting desktop and field surveys to assess habitat condition (e.g. Fossit, NVC, Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, Site Condition Monitoring).
Excellent report writing ability, delivering technical reports for the private or public sector.
Modelling and GIS skills would be an advantage, as would a track record in a consultancy environment. The ideal candidate would also be able to demonstrate experience of methane / carbon benefits of wetland/ peatland restoration.
A full driving licence.
