About the role
APEM is at the forefront of innovation in ecological consulting, and we are growing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to contribute in our exciting, forward thinking and dynamic company!
We are looking for a Business Analyst to support the design, development and delivery of our internal systems. You will capture detailed system requirements, analyse these for viability and translate them into highly specific technical briefs. You will support product development, helping to identify solutions and assess for both technical and business suitability, effectively implementing these. Working with the wider project team, you will support effective project delivery by ensuring that budgets are adhered to and deadlines are met, and draw up, supervise and document UAT schedules to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
The successful applicant will review current processes and identify and support implementation of improvements, ensuring that all system and process updates and changes are effectively documented with detailed technical notes, where relevant, and user manuals.
To deliver this effectively you will need to liaise between, and report to, internal and external clients and stakeholders, including developers and operational teams, throughout the development lifecycle.
Please note that this is a 9 month fixed term contract.
About you
You will be an experienced business analyst with strong technical ability. You will have a demonstrable track record of successfully supporting system development and improvement. Experience of database development, SQL and spatial data is important.
You will be highly organised, with excellent prioritisation skills and be able to balance competing demands to ensure delivery. You will be able to work off your own initiative, and will love getting stuck in. Seeing your hard work show results will be a real motivator for you.
Developing strong relationships, negotiating, and truly understanding peoples needs will be key, so excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
You must have an analytical mindset, with the ability to assess processes, interpret data and challenge ways of doing things to get the desired outcomes. A passion for creating solutions with a positive attitude to change and a love of problem solving will stand you in good stead.

Required skills:
- Substantial Business Analyst experience
- Strong technical aptitude, with experience of dealing with spatial data, SQL and database development as well as systems
- Ability to identify, analyse and translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Process improvement & development
- Excellent written communication skills, with ability to produce technical documents and end-user guides
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organisation skills, while being flexible enough to adapt to changing circumstances
- Ability to develop strong relationships, and work effectively across teams
