Purpose / Scope of role
Our Aerial Survey Team are at the heart of our Data Operations function in our Geospatial Sector, providing services to deliver our remote sensing projects through supplying high quality camera technician services.
The LiDAR Lead will work directly with our Head of Systems and Aerial Service Technicians, specifically providing specialist support around LiDAR services, helping facilitating LiDAR surveys and providing technical support of the analysis of LiDAR data sets, whilst also providing expert advice across our Geospatial Sector.
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities
- Lead and provide expert advice on LiDAR data capture, providing technical support to stakeholders across our Aerial Survey Team, wider Geospatial Sector and other APEM sectors as required
- Oversee, support and provide guidance to AST roles to deliver LiDAR surveys
- Analysis of LiDAR datasets to ensure high quality data for reports, working with other areas in Geospatial (Remote Sensing Team) as required
- Provide training and guidance to stakeholders around LiDAR and other remote sensing technology tools
- Implement best practice documentation and processes around LiDAR data collection and data handling
- Understand and facilitate LiDAR system development in line with industry best practice and criteria for remote sensing application
- Undertake research and development support and identify potential business opportunities around LiDAR and other remote sensing technology
- Analyse and identify new camera/sensor technology to other relevant members of Data Operations Team such as Head of Systems, Data Manager and Data Quality Manager to formulate recommendations for purchase or upgrades.
