About the role
You will work within a dynamic team of aquatic environmental scientists with cross-cutting expertise in ecology, hydrology, geomorphology, water quality, fisheries and natural and social capital, to deliver a range of projects for the UK water and energy industries, and their environmental regulators. The purpose of the role will be to join our growing team to help continue APEMs drive for innovation through supporting the our natural and social capital service and to provide economic support to water industry projects as well as for a range of other clients such as regulators, businesses and NGOs. The role will require the application of economics tools (for example: cost-benefit analysis, natural capital accounting) and contributing to the development of new tools and approaches.
Key features of the this role will be supporting or managing a range of projects to ensure the delivery of high quality outputs within budget. This role will also require contributing to or leading the production of competitive tenders as well as supporting the creation new approaches to provide innovative and effective tools to better help deliver our clients needs. This could also entail helping with marketing either directly or through representing APEM at conferences.
You will be primarily office-based, although we offer flexibility for working from home and it is expected that you will also attend site visits and client meetings as required. Either as lead or as part of a team, candidates must have experience of conducting economic analysis for a range of environmental projects across water, air, land, or renewable energy resources.
You will be an enthusiastic individual with good knowledge of environmental economics and how it can be applied to different sectors. You will be an enthusiastic advocate of natural capital and similar approaches, looking to drive forward and develop new methods and tools with a drive to be a valuable expert in your field.
You will be qualified to a minimum of BSc. level in a relevant discipline, with evidence of experience preferably for water companies but knowledge of different sectors is an advantage. Whether you are an applicant with academic, regulatory, consultancy or third sector experience you will need to demonstrate your ability to apply your skills in a fast-paced commercial consultancy context through experience of managing projects and dealing with people effectively and professionally.
